What is Koh Samui in November like?

Warm, humid and showery. The chance of a wet day is 63% on 1 November and 49% on 30 November, according to WeatherSpark, from NASA and Samui Airport data. TAT lists Koh Samui and Koh Phangan as best visited from December to June, so November comes just before the best weather. Pack for rain and plan some of every day indoors.

We run ARKbar Beach Club on Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui. This guide uses the figures we could check and says where we could not.

What is the weather in Koh Samui in November?

Daytime highs are about 30°C and nights about 26°C, according to WeatherSpark, from NASA and Samui Airport data. The chance of a wet day is 63% on 1 November and falls to 49% by 30 November. The same source counts about 300 mm of rain over a month at the start of November, easing to about 265 mm by the end.

That does not mean a washed out day. A 49 to 63% chance of a wet day means rain on about half to two-thirds of days, with dry hours between. The start of the month is the wetter half, and the last week is the better one.

  • Pack: a light rain jacket, sandals with grip, and a dry bag for your phone.
  • Plan: sights in the morning, a long lunch when the shower comes, the beach again in the evening.

How long are the days in November?

Sunrise is about 6:10 AM and sunset about 5:57 PM on 1 November, and sunset is at about 5:55 PM mid month, according to sunrise-sunset.org. Dark falls early, so the evening starts early too. Our fire show begins at 8PM, well after dark.

The full moon on 24 November

The full moon falls on 24 November, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Two things follow from it. The Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan is on 24 November, with party week running 22 to 26 November, according to the Full Moon Party's own site, which says the ferry from Koh Samui takes about an hour. And Loy Krathong, the festival of floating lights, is held around the full moon.

TAT's November 2026 calendar lists no Koh Samui Loy Krathong event for 2026, so ask your hotel before you plan around one. If you want a full moon night on Samui itself, the beach is open and the fire show is on.

Boats and islands in November

Check before you book a boat. Ang Thong National Marine Park is usually closed from 1 November to 15 December, depending on the weather, according to Thai National Parks. We could not find a 2026 notice from the park itself, so confirm with your tour operator.

The sea is rougher in November. Last year the Thai Meteorological Department warned that Gulf waves of 2 to 3 metres were expected and told small boats to stay ashore from 19 to 23 November 2025. Ferries and speedboats can be cancelled at short notice, so leave a spare day before a flight.
