The Koh Samui pool party scene runs every day of the week, anchored on Chaweng Beach where the biggest beach clubs sit directly on the sand with full beachfront pools. Most start in the early afternoon, peak between 4 PM and 7 PM, and either close around sunset or roll straight into evening fire shows and DJ sets.
This guide covers where pool parties actually happen, how to book a sunbed or daybed, what to bring, the rules around families and ages, and how to combine a daytime pool party with the rest of your evening on the island.
A Koh Samui pool party is built around a beachfront pool, a resident or visiting DJ, full bar service from sunbeds and daybeds, and a swim-up or beachside bar. You move between the pool, the sand, the bar and your sunbed all day. Most venues serve food poolside and run small entertainment programmes (foam parties, theme days, photo crews) on peak days.
The atmosphere shifts through the day. Afternoons are slower and family-friendly. Late afternoon hits peak energy as the day crowd builds. After sunset, most pool parties either wind down or transition into evening beach parties and adults-only zones.
Entry is free at almost every beach club. You pay for what you consume (drinks, food) or for a sunbed/daybed reservation with a minimum spend. Sunbeds typically sit close to the pool or in the front row of the beach. Daybeds are larger, more private, and usually require a bigger minimum spend.
Walk-ins are accepted most days but reservations are strongly recommended for weekends, public holidays, and headliner DJ events. On peak days the front-row beds book out by 1 PM.
Most Koh Samui hotels have small, quiet pools designed for guest use. The pool parties happen at dedicated beach clubs that combine the pool, the beach and a proper DJ programme. Beach clubs are open to the public, often free to enter, and run a much higher energy than any hotel pool can.
For a wider look at the area, see the Things to Do Chaweng Beach guide and the Nightlife in Koh Samui guide.
The ARKbar Beach Club pool party runs every day of the year. Most other Chaweng beach clubs run a similar daily schedule with slight variations on event days.
Koh Samui pool parties are concentrated in three areas: Chaweng Beach (the main scene), Bangrak Beach in Bophut (the airport-side beach club zone), and a smaller scattering of hotel-run pool parties around Lamai and Choeng Mon. Chaweng is where the daily, free-entry pool parties live.
ARKbar Beach Club runs the largest daily pool party on Chaweng Beach. Beachfront pool directly on the sand, free entry, resident DJs from 2 PM, fire show at 8 PM, beach party until 2 AM.
Every day at ARKbar runs to the same core arc. Whether you arrive solo, as a couple, or in a group, here is how a full day plays out.
Start your morning with a beachfront breakfast from our restaurant menu. Then walk in and grab a sunbed directly on the beach. No reservation needed, just a 300 THB minimum spend.
Upgrade your vibe with full pool access for 500 THB per person, which includes use of loungers. As the afternoon heats up, live DJs kick off from 2 PM, setting the soundtrack for sun and cocktails.
In the evening, do not miss our free-entry fire shows every night starting at 8 PM. While you are here, check out our Shopping Avenue for boutique stores, snacks and souvenirs.
Finish strong by booking a VIP table for the full beachfront party experience: bottle service, ocean views, dedicated seating.
Looking for the perfect place to relax, swim or party in Koh Samui? ARKbar offers flexible options to suit every type of traveller, from casual sun seekers to VIP party crews. Choose between walk-in beachfront sunbeds, full pool access with live entertainment, or book a private table for the full beach club experience.
Two days a week the pool party programme includes live performances alongside the DJ set. Saxophonist, violinist, dancers and additional entertainment performers join the resident DJ on Wednesdays and Fridays from the afternoon. These are the most photographed and atmospheric pool party days of the week, and the sunbeds book out fastest on these afternoons.
Chaweng’s central beach strip has two other notable pool parties worth knowing about.
CLUB SEEN sits at the north end of Chaweng Beach, connected to the Avani Chaweng Samui hotel. Two beachfront pools, designer cabanas and an international DJ programme that has hosted Defected, Glitterbox, ARTBAT, Nina Kraviz, Folamour and the O Beach Ibiza takeover series. The vibe is more design-led and slightly more upmarket than ARKbar. Pool runs 11 AM to 11 PM. After 11 PM the UNSEEN Club Room opens for late-night sessions.
Lub D Koh Samui runs a high-energy pool party on the central Chaweng beachfront. Two pools, a swim-up bar, a floating DJ booth and daily activities (beer pong, foam parties, beach games). Best for solo travellers and backpacker groups. Younger and more social than ARKbar or CLUB SEEN.
About 10 to 15 minutes north of Chaweng on Bangrak Beach, 79 Beach Club & Resort is the main pool party venue on this side of the island. Beachfront pool, all-day DJ programme, sunset sets, and a more design-led atmosphere than the Chaweng strip.
The signature day is Sanook Saturdays, an all-day pool and beach party with rotating headliners (Roger Sanchez headlined the January 2026 event). Pre-Full Moon Ritual nights bring tiki themes and themed gatherings on a rotating schedule. Bangrak is closest to the airport (about 9 minutes), so 79 doubles as the standard airport-day or check-out-day pool party stop.
Lamai’s pool party scene is smaller and mostly hotel-led. There are no dedicated public pool parties on the scale of Chaweng or Bangrak. Choeng Mon has a few resort-only pools with occasional weekend pool parties for guests.
If a pool party is the main reason you are visiting Koh Samui, base yourself on Chaweng or Bangrak.
The ARKbar pool party is the longest continuous daytime party on Chaweng Beach. It runs every single day, the same core programme, with bigger events layered on top on weekends and headliner nights.
Reservations are taken online and held until the listed arrival time. Walk-ins are welcome but not guaranteed on weekends, public holidays, Songkran and headliner nights. The booking system shows live availability for sunbeds and daybeds across the day and night.
If pool parties are the main draw, base yourself on Chaweng Beach. The biggest daily pool parties, the most variety, and the easiest walk-in access all sit on this stretch. From Chaweng you can walk to the pool by day, the fire show by evening, and the late-night bars on Chaweng Beach Road without ever needing a taxi.
Six things that separate a good pool party day from a disaster.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons book out by 1 PM at the main Chaweng beach clubs. Headliner nights, public holidays and Songkran are even tighter. Reserve at least a day ahead if your dates are non-negotiable.
The pool party officially starts at 2 PM but the build runs steadily through to 7 PM. Arriving at 2 PM gives you the full arc: light early energy, peak afternoon hours, golden hour, dinner break, then straight into the evening fire show without leaving.
Bar tabs run smoothly on card or cash. Street vendors and tuk-tuks back to your hotel are cash only. Keep 2,000 baht in small notes available for taxis, tips and anything off-tab.
The Koh Samui sun is harder than it looks. Apply before you arrive, reapply every two hours, and use a reef-safe brand if you’ll be swimming in the sea. Most beach clubs sell sunscreen but the markup is significant.
Tropical heat plus alcohol plus pool sun is the fastest way to end a day at 4 PM with heat exhaustion. Water between every drink. Eat a proper meal in the afternoon. Information on Thailand travel and safety is on the official tourism site if you want a wider read.
A pool party that ends at sunset leaves you with a decision: dinner, fire show, or straight to bed. The simplest plan is to stay at the same venue through the evening. ARKbar’s fire show at 8 PM and the late beach party until 2 AM mean you do not have to move.
Yes. Entry to the main Chaweng beach clubs (ARKbar, CLUB SEEN, Lub D) is free. At ARKbar, a walk-in beachfront sunbed has a 300 THB minimum spend. Full pool access with loungers is 500 THB per person.
Most start between 12 PM and 2 PM. The DJ programme typically begins at 2 PM. Peak hours run 4 PM to 7 PM. ARKbar’s pool party runs from 2 PM until 2 AM in one continuous programme.
Yes, during daytime hours. ARKbar is family-friendly until 9 PM, after which it becomes adults-only. CLUB SEEN and 79 Beach Club run family-friendly daytime programmes. Late-night beach club events are 18+ only.
No reservation needed for a walk-in beachfront sunbed (300 THB minimum spend). Full pool access with loungers is 500 THB per person. For groups, VIP tables and dedicated seating, reserve online via reserveyourvenue.com/arkbar.
Wednesdays and Fridays. The pool party programme on these days includes saxophonist, violinist, dancers and other live performers alongside the resident DJ. These are the most atmospheric pool party days of the week.
Swimwear, towel (most venues provide), sunscreen, cash for off-tab spending, sunglasses, a light cover-up for after dark.
A standard day works out to around 1,000 to 2,000 THB per person including food, drinks and the 500 THB pool access. Walk-in sunbed days start from 300 THB minimum spend if you just want a drink and the beach.
No. Swimwear is the daytime norm. The evening fire show and adults-only hours stay casual.
Koh Samui’s best pool parties are daily, free to enter, and built around beachfront pools rather than hotel pools. ARKbar leads the daily programme on Chaweng with the longest continuous schedule and the biggest fire show. CLUB SEEN brings the international DJ programme and the design-led upmarket version. Lub D handles the social and backpacker crowd. 79 Beach Club covers the Bangrak side of the island.
Reserve in advance on weekends and big event days. Arrive early enough to claim a good spot. Stay through the fire show at 8 PM and you have a full day and night already taken care of.
Pair the pool party with HIP Restaurant for dinner, or stay on the beach for the late-night party.
