Where is the best Halloween party in Koh Samui?
For a beach party, Black Tide at ARKbar Beach Club on Chaweng Beach. Halloween is not a Thai holiday, but Koh Samui has made it one of the nights of the year. The malls run parades, the hotels run family buffets, and the clubs along Chaweng Beach Road fill with costumes.
We run ARKbar Beach Club on Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui, and we have thrown a Halloween party on the sand since at least 2019. This year it is called Black Tide. This guide covers our night, the other Halloween nights on the island, and the practical bits: costumes, the weather, and getting home at 2AM.
Black Tide: Halloween at ARKbar Beach Club
Saturday 31 October 2026, 8PM to 2AM, on the sand at ARKbar. The idea is simple and a little creepy: something comes out of the sea and drags the ARKbar DJ booth under. A blood moon over Chaweng Bay, black water all round, and the booth's ARKbar light the last warm thing on the beach.
- The music: house from our resident DJs, with Spice headlining from 11PM to 2AM.
- The dress code: come in costume. Half the beach will.
- Tables: booked on our booking map for 31 October. A table is the way to be sure of a place to sit.

Our last two Halloweens are the best guide to what to expect. These are from our own photographers on 31 October 2024 and 2025.
Other Halloween parties in Koh Samui
These are the other Halloween nights on the island, each taken from the venue's own page. Most clubs announce theirs in the second half of October, so we will add them here as they post.
Announced for 2026
- Chom Dao Beach Club, Bophut. A Halloween BBQ and international buffet on Saturday 31 October 2026 from 6:30PM, with live music, a fire show and Halloween dress-up.
- Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut Beach. A family Halloween dinner buffet on 31 October 2026, 6:30PM to 9:30PM, with face painting, a light show, games and a mini disco. Booking is on the hotel's own page.
- Central Samui, Chaweng. Halloween runs through October at the mall: a Halloween Shopping Fest from 1 to 21 October, then a Trick or Treat Fest from 26 to 31 October. Its parade, mask dance party and costume contest are listed for the end of the month. Check the mall's page for the final day, as its own posts give two.
Held in 2025
- CLUB SEEN at AVANI+ Chaweng ran "The Asylum" on 31 October 2025, with the best costume winning a bottle of bubbles.
- Sound Club on Chaweng's Soi Green Mango had Nakadia for Halloween 2025.
- CU Club in Chaweng ran a Halloween party with a guest DJ on 31 October 2025.
- House of Suzy in Lamai turned into "Suzy's House of Horrors" on 31 October 2025.
- Elephant Beach Club on Chaweng Beach held its Halloween party on 1 November 2025, the night after.
- Haven Samui on Chaweng Beach Road ran "Thai Spirits Night" over Halloween 2025, with a haunted house and a Thai ghost theme.
Chaweng, Lamai or Bophut: where to spend Halloween
- Chaweng is the loud one. Most of the island's Halloween nights are on or just off Chaweng Beach Road, and many are close enough to walk between. If you want the big costume crowd, stay here.
- Lamai, south of Chaweng, is smaller, with bar nights such as House of Suzy's.
- Bophut and Fisherman's Village are calmer. The Halloween nights there are dinners and family evenings, good if you are travelling with children.
What is the weather like in Koh Samui at Halloween?
Warm, humid, and wetter than the rest of the year. Koh Samui's rains come late, from October to December, so Halloween falls as they build. By the end of October the average high is about 31°C and the night-time low about 26°C, with a 63% chance of some rain on any given day, according to WeatherSpark, from NASA and Samui Airport data.
In practice that usually means a heavy shower that passes, not a washed-out night. The sun sets at 5:57 PM on 31 October 2026, according to timeanddate.com, so the beach is dark well before the party starts.
What to bring: a light rain layer, shoes you do not mind getting sandy, and a costume that copes with heat. Thick masks and fur get hot by midnight.
Where to buy a Halloween costume in Koh Samui
Bring it from home if you can. The island has no big costume shop that we know of. Your best bet is Central Samui in Chaweng, which runs a Halloween Shopping Fest from 1 to 21 October 2026 for costumes and props. The big supermarkets, Big C in Bophut and Lotus's near Chaweng, are worth a look for face paint and basics, though stock changes year to year.
Go as a Thai ghost
Thailand has its own ghosts, and some Thais dress as them for Halloween, according to The Nation. They make a costume nobody else on the beach will have:
- Mae Nak, the wife who died in childbirth, famous from many Thai films.
- Nang Tani, a woman in traditional dress who lives in wild banana trees.
- Krasue, a floating woman's head. The hardest to pull off, and the most remembered.
Getting home after a Halloween party in Chaweng
- Walk if you are staying in Chaweng, close to the beach road.
- Use Grab, which runs on Samui. Book from the beach road, not the sand, so the driver can find you.
- Agree the fare first if you take a local taxi.
- Stay inside the party. ARKbar Beach Resort is inside the beach club, so your room is a walk from the booth.
ARKbar Beach Resort
The resort sits inside the beach club on Chaweng Beach, so the party is downstairs and your room is a walk away.
Staying on? New Year's Eve is the other big night
If Halloween is your first night out on Samui this season, the biggest is 31 December. Our New Year's Eve Countdown Beach Festival on Chaweng Beach runs into midnight with fireworks over the bay, and tables and standing tickets are on sale now.
